Besides salt being in the water, What's the difference between the two when preparing yourself for success?
I fished as a kid with worms on a boat with my grandpa. I now live on the SE coast and use my free time to fish, but I can't catch a damn. It's mostly inland streams. I know it's a lot to learn and the more I'm out there then I'll start picking it up.
When I read articles, it becomes a little deceiving when it's about bass when I don't have bass in these waters. Does it really matter since the lures and ideas are similar?
I'm mostly trying to learn the basics and making sure I know what I'm doing when I cast. Is this bait going to catch fish here? Do I need to add a sinker? Maybe the hook is too big?
It's all sorts of questions but I know it takes time to outsmart these fish. I'm just trying to outsmart the dumbest fish right now.

Besides salt being in the water, What's the differ... (
show quote)
As far as technique is concerned, not too much. The environment might be a little different, but bass like structure, weed beds produce fish and temperature effects where to find them. Big picture, not a whole lot of difference.
Identify your location so we can offer advice. Be specific. Buy live bait. Small shiners for example. #3 circle hook through upper lip.
