Photo shows giant snake being
lifted by a crane that was clearing
out a patch of rainforest on the
island of Dominica, in the eastern Caribbean ! No species ID was
made/mentioned in the article,
but it appears to be some type
of giant python !

Looks like a reticulated python. I owned one in college. It was mean! It was 12ft and barely controllable when I sold her. Can’t imagine that giant! Cool post!

Boots ? This snake could supply enough material to shoe a large
village !

From what I've read, some Pacific island tribes once practiced cannibalism - when they cooked people like the Polynesians/ Hawai'ians cook pig (in the ground, luau-style), their name for it
translates to 'long pig', so I'm guessing that we probably taste
more like pork than chicken !

Neither does my fishing partner - if
he spotted a garter snake at his feet, he'd jump a foot high and sideways !
If he ever saw one this big, he'd probably load his skivvies !

This is from July 2020. Might as well be an anaconda. Took a Reactions Innovation Sweet Beaver. Luckily he let go before I had to beat him with a boat hook. Pucker factor was elevated….on me. Don’t know about the snake 😉

Was that a rattler ? Couldn't tell from the side shot if the head was oval or triangular-shaped and couldn't see whether or not it had rattles - I only ask because I know that some non-venomous snakes have similar markings and are hard to tell apart unless you see the head or tail !
