Good Morning!

I am looking for recommendations regarding electronic speed controls for my kicker motor. I have a Honda 8 hp that I use for trolling in my 18’ Weldcraft.

Do any of you use an after-market electronic speed controller?

I have been looking at ones by iTroll and by TrollMaster. Hoping some of our members have experience and suggestions.

I have a Trollman that came off my Honda 10 hsp. I upgraded and have this for sale. $75. works great, reostat for speed adjustment and full power switch to get you out of trouble, on/off and idle switches. has the bracket for your Honda.

I run a troll master pro 3 remote. The one problem I have is the remote battery doesn’t last to long. Seems like it needs replaced every couple of uses. When that happens the motor will fluctuate speed. I read that several people had this problem. ITroll seems a bit better from the reviews. Troll master pro 2 isn’t wireless , might work better

About 15 years ago I had a TR1 auto pilot on my 9.9 merc Bigfoot. Work really well and I could interface it
With my Lowrance LMS 350? I could set it up to troll to waypoints. Had a tethered remote that you could manually turn boat, increase or decrease speed, and shut off. I miss it!

My son has the itroll on his 9.9 Honda kicker and loves it. Works flawlessly and very easy to use. It’s on a 21 foot Aqua Sport. Electric start kicker. He fires up the kicker, lets it warm up for about 2 minutes and switches on the controller. Little knob on the dash of his boat is basically all it is and works great.
