What's your game with fish? Do you take only enough to eat fresh or do you load the ice chest and pack the freezer? Me, I only take what we can eat while it's fresh, I never freeze fish....it's just not the same to me

The stripers we catch freeze beautifully. If you eat them soon enough, say within a month or so, you can hardly tell the difference between them and fresh. Slightly , but not much at all.

I tried that but my vacuum sealer was junk.....$85 from BPS......worked ok when it was new, but failed and wouldn't suck out all the air. I may go full commercial on my next one

Frozen for the winter months are my catches. Sinker try the Food Saver brand of vacuum sealers. Had a few hundred fish over 4 years with one before the unit went up. Got another one and its working great. And buy the off brand name sealer bags and will save $$$$$$

Cook and eat what we can the same day. Cryovac the rest. Fresh tastes way better to me and better texture.

Yeah, that might be how to keep them fairly fresh. Problem I have is my family won't eat the fish I catch.....but they will go to out to eat and order fish and come home raving about it

Dang, really? What's up with that? Why in the world would they eat something from a store or restaurant that is no tellin how old and NOT eat something that is fresh caught?

You don't like the taste of fish? Just the bait then, right?

Actually, when I was in my early 20s and working for a fish distributing company, I found out the hard way I was allergic to seafood, apparently it makes my esophagus swell up and cut off the air circulation to my brain which sends me to the hospital, I did not eat fish for many many years and I’m guessing my allergy subsided as of now I do eat oysters sushi and some tunafish
