We are going to spend some time in the Stuart -Port St. Lucie are for the 1st time. Can anyone offer any tips as to what type of fish to expect & best baits to use?

Can't help on bait, but I am a bit jealous.. That area is known for having some of the better custom boat builders in Florida. You should have lots to look at!!

Redfish, snook, flounder, trout and sheepshead all hit live shrimp free-lined or bounced along the bottom. Top waters or shallow divers in lighter colors (white or green) have worked for snook. Also pinfish if you can catch them with a cast net. Good luck!
