Keep your Rifle by your side

I was sitting on my porch when I heard someone screaming for help, I grabbed my Rifle and ran off in the direction of the screams, I followed the screams for a long time, they led me to a barn I didn't know was even there, once inside the screams stopped I noticed what was inside the barn, Five sticks driven into the ground arranged into a circle, on each one was a skull, below the deer skull was a pile of apples. Below the horse skull was a stack of hay, below the bear skull was a pile of meat, below the dog skull were bones, and below the Cougar skull was a pile of fish, and were the sixth stick should have been there was the souce of the screaming I heard earlier, by all accounts I'd say she was lucky to be alive, but before i count untie her the barn door slammed shut, I looked up into the loft and saw three people in black hoods staring down at me, one held a rope, the other two held knives, it was at this moment I remembered my Rifle, So I shot them, picked up the young woman and got out of there, I returned the next day and burned the barn, and nothing else has happened since then, But I can't help but wonder what would have happened if I hadn't grabbed my gun before I left.

USMC too .Drill instructors were just laying in wait for some recruit to say "gun" instead of rifle or weapon.
Then all hell broke loose. The kid did it at the range ! Lotsa PT for all later. We got the point.
