I went in to see our new HR/Bookkeeper today to check on how many vacation days I have left. She says, more than I know I have. OOOKKK, the next 3 days supposed to be in the 70°s, followed by rain and a cold front on the weekend. Foreman will be out Friday, so that's out, but Thursday looks good. Thursday it is, gonna head up to Pikeland with my buddy Steve, We'll see if we can scare up some Bass, and avoid the Slime Dogs. More info tomorrow.

I like to catch the slimy ones just for the initial couple of runs, but they run out of gas pretty quick, in my estimation. I don't trek out to Bantam for this anymore, took me a while, but I located some great spots on the Connecticut River. Gettin better at SM bassin there also. Unreal how well the river has recovered since the later/middle of the 20th century. Amazing turnaround. If you change your mind about catching them let me know via PM. and I'll share.
Good move to take these glorious autumn days for vacation. Good luck for the next 2.

Thanks Nutz. I've gotta try the river for Smallies at least once before I move outta here. I heard Massachusetts messed up the river for a month or so this summer. Something about dumping a ton of water from the Agawam dam, muddied up the river. I heard Bass and Pike guys bit**ing about it. Just taking Thursday for now, and just heard the weather update, still nice, but 10-15 on the wind. It was 5-9 this morning. That's ok,I'll deal with it. Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if I decide to pursue them.

Must have missed ya saying you're moving. Hope it works out for you. I'll miss your descriptions of CT spots and results, but some new anglers in another place will be glad you're on their turf. Where ya going ?
Good luck tomorrow, I gotta do stuff stuff I've neglected . Fishing Friday at Cheshire section of Quinnapiac River, and Hanover Pond in So. Meriden.

I'm gonna retire in the spring. Probably take me close to a year to get all my chit together. Then heading for South Carolina. We'll see how things go. Thanks for the good wishes, hoping to relax, but some Bass would be a great bonus.
Good luck Friday, I've always wanted to fish Hanover Pond. I've got friends in the Renegade Pigs MC, and their club is out of the American Legion post at the lake. Been there for lots of parties, Turkey Runs, and such. Tight Lines buddy.

Those are the Meriden Cops, right? I'm a Legion guy in Marlborough, but have been to Meriden a few times over the last 50. I'm a Meriden native, but moved like a gypsy ( is it OK to say that ? ) and made many acquaintances and friends around central and southern Ct over the years.
Spent mid 1969 till early 70 @ USMC's Beaufort Air Station and the bassin' around that area was outstanding. Didn't get off base as much and for as many hours as I would have liked, but that's the Corp. Caught my lifetime personal best as a farm Pond invitee in Monk's Corner SC, nearby. Yankees were not too popular in those days, but I have a way of getting along with almost anybody. Never fished salt water down there though it was right there, didn't have my tackle for that.
Now for Hanover Pond, I fish it almost exclusively for carp, just for the thrill of large fish on medium light rods. They run pretty large there, but not as huge as Connecticut River or Lake Pogatipaug. Can't spell that one on even my best day.
I bring several oversized reels, to check drag functions. If they work well I slap em on to my medium heavy rods for Pike duty. Decent bass have been caught there, and loads of panfish and at night, one of the better bullhead ponds in the area. I fish for anything ! Only had a boat on it once, to watch fireworks with G F for Independence Day. Didn't fish, but never had so many mosquito bites like that in Ct. before or after. Plenty of parking when I last went on Oregon Road side for shore fishing, and decent launch on Hanover road side near Legion.
Nice little Italian restaurant just back from Red Bridge : Avanti's. Good chow and my favorite, Frozen beer mugs.
Over and Out for now.

Not quite Nutz, they're Corrections Officers. Got chapters from Maine to at least Virginia, that I've met. They used to do a big Turkey Run in November, sponsored by Michael Bozzuto. Lots of out of state chapters showed up. Maybe 1500bikes. Was State police escorted, but they pulled the plug when the Legion wouldn't shut the bar before the ride. When the stateies pulled out,so did Bozzutos. The event died 2yrs later. So sad.
I consider myself a Yankee Redneck, I'll blend right in LOL.
