Big A Loc: Mesa, Arizona

I have posted these photos here because they are location-specific
to N.H. (I can't/not allowed to post
on Chit-Chat), and predominantly the White Mountains area - most of
these are more current (this year)
than previous postings ! If anyone
is interested enough to go looking,
the site is - iStock photos.com !
There is 100 pages containing
6,145 photos of N.H. fall scenery !

I may be posting more in the near future, but it will probably be on this page rather than on Chit-Chat !

1/ Franconia Notch looking south
toward Cannon Mtn. ski area and Echo Lake
2/ Driving the Kancamagus Highway
(Rt. 112 from Lincoln to Conway)
3/ White Mountain sunrise
(location unknown)
4/ Frankenstein Trestle/Frankenstein Cliff - Crawford Notch
5/ Cog Railroad - climbing Mount Washington in October

Yes, N.H. is a beautiful little state, which is one of the things I miss
most about it ! Most people don't realize how special it is for as small
as it is (6th or 7th smallest) - there
are four dozen peaks over 4,000 ft.,
about 800 ponds/lakes, over 19,000 miles of rivers/streams, and a short (13 mi.) but very scenic coastline !

It also contains Lake Winnipesaukee, the third-largest lake in the
Northeast (after Lake Champlain on
the N.Y./Vt. border and Moosehead Lake in Maine), and is in the top-five
of the cleanest lakes in the country along with Newfound Lake !

Gorgeous, thanks for sharing
Am hoping to get out next weekend to see some colors around here, or at least in the center of the State.

Absolutely spectacular! Fall in New England is something to behold...especially in person! I recall having been to these places during the time my wife and I lived in the tiny little town of Brookfield, NH. Brings back pleasant memories for me! Thanks for posting!

Bear Notch Road...off the Kancamagus Hwy. from your second photo. We used to bike up an down that steep rascal in 1984!

Been down that road many times - used it for a shortcut to Crawford Notch to avoid all the tourist traffic through Conway/North Conway !

Nice to know that someone else
on here is familiar with the beauty
of N.H. and its' by-ways !

Have you ever been swimming at
the Saco/Sawyer River swimming
hole ? It is about 5 miles up Rt. 302 (toward Crawford Notch) from the junction of Bear Notch Rd. and
Rt. 302 - West !

Thanks for those nice pics. I like the sunrise the best. Great to have a film crew also share with.

God does some amazing work.

Yes...that was always a great place to cool off. Spent many an afternoon there during the Summer months! We have maintained friendships with several folks in NH, and get back now and then for special events tied to our friends...weddings, births, anniversaries, etc. One of these days I'd like to "sneak" back out there and not let anybody know we are there...just to bum a round again and explore all of our favorite old haunts!

I know what you mean about Conway...always a "bee hive" of activity and it could take a while to pass thru it!

We spent 4 years living there right after getting married, and I worked right in downtown Wolfeboro, NH. That was a nifty little town...and still no stop lights anywhere...at least as of a few years ago. Just friendly folks letting traffic in and out as needed.

Something I really miss is "mowing down" on lobster rolls on the coast!

What did you do to get banned from general chit chat?

The admin. texted me a warning by pm not to speak of politics any more. The "Give Them A Cow" posting should not have been there. My bad I guess.
Now I can't delete it out of my pm mailbox. I guess they are making sure it stays as a reminder. It's their ball field and we are just guest who have to play by their rules.

Be that as it may, some posts not intended/deemed as political still
get branded as such (by them) !

I still call DISCRIMINATION on this one, as I've seen other posts on GCC
that I would consider being more
'political' than what I posted !

They do have their favorites, and apparently I'm not one of them !

I, too, miss my seafood ! Living in Manchester, we were only about
45 minutes from the coast and
just over an hour to our favorite restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine !

Back in my Scouting days, some
of our hikes included climbing
Mt. Chocorua and Mt. Monadnock -
later, with other friends, we climbed Mt. Moosilauke and the loop to Little Haystack/Mt. Lafayette and back
down to Franconia Notch ! Now, I quote Danny Glover's favorite remark from several of his movies - " I'm
getting too old for this sh*t ! "
