Fishing grassy canals in Florida. Had a few fish today dive into the pads both times my line broke just after the double uni knot I tied. Is this a case of a bad leader or to low of a lb test? Using 50lb braid to a 12lb red label fluorocarbon.

Did you wet the line before cinching down the knot? It may have been damaged by friction.

I use 20 pound fluorocarbon with 20 pound braid tied with a surgeon's knot. I've not had much problem with line breaking. Maybe a little heavier leader would help.

Try it with a swivel rather than a double uni. If same problem increase leader strength. My flouro leader is usually 5-10# over the braind rating.

I suspect you aren’t wetting the knot before cinching. I’ve seen guys use chapstick for this but saliva works fine .

Double uni is pretty strong. FG and Alberto are stronger. At least in my experience.
