Brand of boat also makes a difference have a 390V Ranger and it is super all around boat with Mercury 200hp motor eats the waves for dinner.
How you set up boat also makes big difference. What prop, power trim & how you load boat with all your gear. A 115 should be getting that boat up to about 50mph with it trimmed out and turn approx. 4800rpm.
I recently stepped down from a 22, to a Nitro Z18. Of course the ride is different. No different than driving a suburban vs a small compact. But one needs to factor how you fish and where. Living here in Montana I have access to many small lakes. Often, getting that 22 in tight spots was difficult. Since I fish primary solo, launching was much easier in the smaller boat. Here in Montana, they don’t put a lot of investment in parking, let alone docks. Sure in rough weather the ride isn’t as good. But when it’s decent, I’m faster and more maneuverable. And much much more cheaper to operate. This is my 11 boat, so I’ve been fortunate to having a wide range of boats. Operating this little rocket with the merc 150 Pro XS is like driving a little sports car on the water. Just fun
