Best fishing rod for heavy fish?

I’ve been using the Ugly Stik Gx2 for awhile now and it’s been nice but I started fishing at a spillway recently with much bigger fish and my line has snapped multiple times. I’m going in this weekend to get thicker line but was wondering if I should upgrade my rod as well, and if so, what would you recommend?

How big of fish are you talkin. I would say your pole is fine. I used 30 lb trilene big game on my pole like that with a baitcaster just adjust your drag. I use the heavier line four brush and rocks. But then again everybody has their own way of doing things
