I’ve heard there are trout near me but I’ve never tried to catch them before.

Acouple of things might help..... First, where are you? Second, what kind of water are you fishing, lake, stream etc. Third what kind of fishing do you do, spinning, bait casting, fly fishing? Finally are the trout stocked or wild?

I like to use a light weight setup and to start off I suggest a worm, split shot and bobber, if they don’t like the worm try meal worms. From there you could try salmon eggs, power bait or move to lures. I’m fond of floating Rapalas, in trout colors, castmasters, various mepps spinners and the old red and white Daredevil, caught my first 18” rainbow on one of those. Now just go fishi

When I was a kid, I caught my trout on velveeta cheese.

You may be a redneck if you go to the grocery store and search for velveeta in the gourmet aisle....

You can never go wrong with some night crawlers, rooster tails spinners, and garlic scented power bait
