I worked at an Envelope Company that had a lot of Armenian people employed. One time a guy I worked with said
"I think the parents must fart in the mud and then spell out what it sounded like to name their children".

I had a next door neighbor who was from the far east.
He said he named his children by knocking over a big pile of pots & pans off the kitchen table. The sounds it made was to be the name of the child.
Just imagine a tall stack on the table getting knocked over,

Too funny. The native Americans in Wyoming and Montana still do that. Kinda cool actually. Johnny Pretty On Top, Delano Falls Down, Milton Yellow Mule. Mostly last names but they derived the same way. It’s interesting to go to a high school graduation on the reservations there. All nice people and some great wisdom from the tribal elders I grew up around.
