Pictures of pelicans coming into Grand Lake on their migratory journey. These birds are huge, with a wingspan of almost 10 feet. There is an annual Pelican Festival on Grand Lake this weekend.

Beautiful pictures, except the one with the two cormorants in it. Well, I guess there are two pictures with cormorants in them.

Hard to get a picture this time of year without a cormorant in them. Thousands of them have been flying in with the pelicans this last week.

Those are some of the best winged fishermen. In China, the fishermen use cormorants to catch fish. Just Sayin..RJS

That was a great video bit! I am surprised that they did not mind your presence...and they did seem to be noticing/watching you....

They took their time and moved to another spot down the canal. They are more timid than the brown pelicans. Sometimes they land on the engine cowling and we’ll toss them a small fish. This is how the browns normally act when theirs food to be had. This was early in the fish cleaning. There’s usually about thirty or so with gulls and an occasional porpoise.

Ya they come every year to the golf coarse ponds and don’t dive like the brown ones. They line up and sweep the pond for the carp.

They can decimate a fishery in short order.

Launched just before daylight Sunday on Gibson, there was a bunch there also. Beautiful sight, and when they started feeding led me right to the shad. Great day on the water with my son in law.

Use to have to park on the sub base in San Diego to get to my ship. Parking was at a premium, so if you got there late you were forced to park under the palm trees up by the vet's office - there was always parking available there, and for that very reason. Better bring a shovel if you're gonna park up there.
