I saw an ad for the Sun Dolphin 2 man 8' boat for 79.99 and free shipping. It looks similar to the Bass Pro Pond Prowler, but it's only $79.99 with free shipping. certainly seems to good to be true, but thought I'd ask my fellow fishermen, and women. Thanks

I do but little boats like that kinda scary you feel like going tip over but takes a lot to do that. The two man is really good for 1 person two kinda tight and that gets even scarier

Md I never saw that cheap I just looked them up. There it is. If there isn't a catch somewhere get the 12' for $86.45 there is a boat intruder 12' for $84.42. I looked at sun dolphin before I got my bass hunter. Didn't find any that cheap several yrs ago. Little boats can be fun. Good luckđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

The biggest question would be what is the payload rating. A craft of that length sure seems small for 2 people...even one depending on a rider's weight with some gear. I like a very comfortable amount of freeboard above the waterline, and a secure feeling of stability if I happen to not be paying attention for brief moments or get surprised by an oncoming wave that sneaks up.

Hard to beat a price that low! The old saying of "you get what you pay for" comes to mind...but if the quality is there, then why not!

So is it the 8’ 2 person model? How’s it holding up? And what did you pay? Thanks

I will mostly be fishing alone and I need to be able to get it up on the roof of an Outback. I’ve been using an Intex Mariner 4 inflatable for 2 years, built a floor for it, but now it leaks between the 4 chambers and the valves are leaking. I had a Pond Prowler years ago and enjoyed it. I just don’t have room to park/store a traditional boat/ trailer at my house.(city boy at this time)
Thanks for all the help guys!

Your explanation of use and situation is helpful. Light weight is always a good thing...as long as you also get strength in the construction and materials. I'm just going to throw this out there...but a brand called "Hurricane" is a great one. they make a sit on top and a sit inside style that have worked very well for my wife and I (we each have one). they are the Santee Sport models and come in at around 11' 6" long. They are strong, stable and easy for one person to manage...which is why we bought them. You will get sticker shock when comparing the new price to a Sun Dolphin, but safety is also a big concern. Check out the used market too. I find that a lot of times folks buy a nice new boat...use it a few times and then decide they don't like it. I have picked up a number of great"yaks" over the years this way.

It sounds like you are experienced with kayaks...so I'm not trying to steer you in the wrong direction. Good luck on your decision! Kayaking is a terrific way to get exercise and fish at the same time!

Be perfect for just you, just remember tie your seat to the track once you like the position. You don t want the seat to slide on the tracks

Jed the pond boat is more stable than a small jon boat. Some only ride a few inches out of the water n will tip over. Been there done that. đź‘Ť My boat is close to water I I never feel like I'm about to flip. I watch videos before I bought. You can swamps bass hunter but it won't sink.

I think I saw where it weighs about 100 lbs. May be a problem getting on top of your outback. A wide canoe is about the same weight but not as awkward as pond boats.
