Hey everybody. Time to get those crankbaits working. The photo below came from Sam Rayburn this past Monday. Me and my son Andy went for a few hours. Since I have cancer , he does some things for me, and I decided to buy him a new rod/ reel for his efforts. Got him a kistler 7-10 reel and feel rod with a new kistler reel. He uses it as his deep crank rod. Anyway, the rod got a workout when he hooked this #8-6ounce purty girl. It’s his personal best also. Glad I was there to witness it. Sorry for the bad screenshot. just re-read my topic title, it should say sept 27, not 25....My 2cents

You are most welcome. Since we don’t take pictures of #3-#4 bass, it’s not very often we use the phone cameras. We were in 16’ water when he caught her. Strike king 6xd was the lure...

She is a big girl. Did you keep her or put her back? Looks like she might have some eggs in her. Anyway, congrats and thanks for sharing the picture.

Nice fish Thanks for sharing the pic. You can go back and edit your title. Should be a box above your post to do that.

Thanks, Mr. Hack. We are catch/ release guys, no matter what size bass we catch..I keep an old measuring tape made of cloth in my boat for this type of situation. She measured 22” ( without compressing her tail) and 7” from dorsal to belly. Andy wouldn’t allow me any more time with her to get a circumference. Then we weighed her and let her go. She swam UPRIGHT just below the surface for a few seconds, then took off. We always hang around an area after we catch one to make sure we don’t have to get it out of the water. In this case , Andy caught another bass around #3 , same lure while we were waiting. I just hauled water. Lol... I’m on the hook to get him a mount ( replica) of this fish. We always agree if a personal best is beat on a trip, the other guy ( me this time ) pays for a mount. Geez.....My2cents...

Thanks, Mr. Fred. ....And I’m obligated to buy him a replica mount. So let’s see here. Andy : brand new kistler rod/ reel , catches big bass with said rod / reel ( 10th cast) , is now gonna get a replica too. Me: paid for new rod/ reel , and now will pay for replica too....Lol... And that is fine with me. I get to fish with my son, and got to witness the catch. I did have net duty. When one that big is hooked we use a net. Too many treble hooks to get stuck with if they try to get loose....

Yeah Chuck, an expensive day for you, but worth every penny. In my tin boat its tough to lip fish, so I boat flip smaller ones, and net the rest. With the heart meds I'm on,the last thing I need is a hand full of treble hooks.LOL.

Thanks Mr. Andy. Yep, was a good day. We caught 5 more between #2 and # 4 that morning, all on deep cranks. In different coves. We moved into shallower areas later on and missed 3 on soft plastic swimbaits. The topwater bite was non- existent. Sam Rayburn was the smoothest I had seen it in a long time. Like glass as far as I could see, and Rayburn is a big place. The long boat runs didn’t hurt at all...My 2cents...
