Closest I've come to Panama is Puerto Aventura, Mexico and a couple of barracuda. Hope it goes well for you.

Was there in the early 70's Tom for the Air Force. Swam in the canal, some beautiful country down there. Don't know what it is like fishing there, but you may want to check in with the embassy to see how Americans are being treated since turning over the canal to the locals.

You are welcome Tom, please let us know if you go. And of course pics if possible. And if the fishing sucks some really good cliff diving locations were down there back then.

Actually, from what I've read there is a large group of ex-pat Nortes down there. Evidently it's considered a great place to retire to.

Ft, i see many far away places that look great and of course the brochures show only the most pristine beaches and land spots with just a few dwellings placed with awesome views.

My thoughts go right to where is the hospital and wonder " what if " what if i need medical help in these remote places. Spoiled i guess living where doc and grocery stores are somewhat near by.

From what I read most of the American communities are located near cities and have pretty much everything you need. Personally I wouldn't do it, but for quite a few it seems to work well. But then, what is on the other side of the camera?

I've never fished in Panama , but have caught Roosterfish in Loreto, Baja California ,24 lb. Rooster, we were on a 22' panga boat and that fish was towing the boat with motor off! I wonder what it do with a kayak, certainly a good ride !

Yeah maybe! We were only couple of hundred yards off the beach, that fish turned the boat almost in a circle and pulled us about 50 yards, great fighters, the guide bled him and iced him and shared with people at the resort for dinner, good to see you back my friend,,
