Many vids on each. Practice fly casting for the rest of the year. Tying flies can be very addicting.
Most quality fly shops will give you the basics of casting at no cost. They want your business. Our local shop also has tying seminars. Don't buy a fly tying kit. Most of the stuff is useless crap. Again, go to a shop and get some help. You will need 1. a vice (most of us older guys learned on a simple Thompson.) All the bells a whistles may be great, but all you need is a good set of jaws on the Vice. 2.a bobbin 3. hackle pliers 4. a good scissors. I would also recommend a whip finisher. Then decide what fly you want to tie. Buy the body parts for that fly. Add as you add new flies. If you learn to tie a royal coachman, a wooly bugger and a traditional muddler minnow, you can look at and tie almost anything else in a standard fly book.
Get advice on what basic gear you need for what and where your going fish along with who might give you dipole lessons on basic casting technique. Don’t be talked into the top of the line rods and reel. Just beginner level old gear. Buy suggested flies according to foe what and for here you’ll fish. Fly tying comes later after you get more experience and see what professionally tied flys look like. Get your gear, a lesson and go practice and try your luck.
