Definitely Gilbert’s

I want to say thank you to you all for the nice words for returning the beautiful lady. It would have been nice to weigh her but that would have meant killing her because I had no scale. She was so old and large I doubt she was going to have more babies...she already done that (many times over) I wanted her to live and die in her home lake not in my ice chest. The lady deserved that.

I will tell you a story about catching another very large fish...
I was fishing for stripers in fresh water, fishing very deep. The thermocline was way down there. I hooked the striper and it was a long hard battle. The fish finally gave up and drifted easily to the surface after blowing bubbles like a sturgeon. I didn’t even need a net. I pulled the heavy beautiful fish in and removed the hook. I immediately tried to resuscitate to no avail. You would think I would have been so stoked for catching a monster Striper but when it died it kinda made me mammelcocly momelcolonee...pretty darn sad. I did take picture of my buddy holding the Striper, besides he always claims my catches that seem to gain weight by every mile home lol. But he’s my buddy. We all have one those, lol. Anyway I didn’t want to waste the fish so what did ol uncle Crappie Jed do? That’s right it took 1/2 gallon tarter sauce 4lbs fried taters and bucket of my wife’s home made coleslaw get the fish down but what a meal. RIP monster fish

Good on ya Steve very impressive. Last year my biggest 15lb I have the pic, released as well. The old gal I didn’t weigh in the previous pic eclipsed my last year Bass. I’m praying she’s doing good and gorging on Gilbert’s as usual. Who knows maybe my next pic be on cover of BASS….hey guys can dream right !
Yes I now carry a good scale 👍
