Are circle hooks an ok substitute for a drop shot?

Was looking at trying a dropshot out but I really don't want to drop cash for hooks and everything else when I've already spent a ton on other rigs.

I have some circle hooks, some old J hooks, and the generic type of hooks you'd see for bass fishing (EWG, wacky hook etc).

I was wondering what kind of hooks you guys would use on a makeshift drop shot. Primarily for nose hooking small gulp minnows and perhaps roboworm type baits.

You could use every hook you mentioned as long as it fits the bait you'll be usingπŸŸπŸŽ£πŸ˜€πŸ‘
