I was wondering what your thoughts on the best starter baitcaster is, my budget is about 100ish dollars. I've been using spinning reels forever and want to expand my collection so I can use different lures and catch different fish. Thanks in advance.

Lew's makes some very fine reels in your price range, I have several and they out preform my most expensive reels.

But you can't put a baitcasting reel on his spinning pole

Try a Shimano SLX 150 HG which runs $99. It is very smooth and I have had no backlashes. Birdnests are very frustrating to a beginner. There is a learning curve to use a baitcaster. This will help. You can pair it up with a St. Croix Bass X rod. Good luck on your search. This combo should last you a long time & you should not have to upgrade as fast.

He said he only had 100 to spend if he spends that on your reel recommendation he'll have no cash left for his rod that's what I was only trying to tell them

If you'll go to Lew.com they have an American Classic Combo, that's a rod and reel for $99.99. I have one of those rigs and it's a great starter set.

They have a high end bunch of stuff and the money is mostly worth the gear but the cheep reel I have outcasts the most expensive reels I own, by a LONG shot. Been fishing with that reel for 3 years now and it's still in very good shape.

Ill have to check them out a man can never have to much fishing gear and it's nice to have a rod you can let someone else use if you bring them fishing

You may find you like it better than some of your more expensive gear, I did.
