Weatherproof/water resistant jacket.
I’m looking to buy a weatherproof jacket for some fall or rainy day fishing. What brand do you guys suggest? Are there any good brands for around $50-60 or is this just something you have to spend the money if you want something good?

For ease of size, comfort and quality, check out "Frog Togs" brand.
Grunden's are used by many commercial fishermen on boats.
Helly Hansen are worth a look as well.
For 'light' fishing I have a LLBean Gore Tex wading jacket.

Check out Goodwill-type stores and Ebay. Lots of treasures out there if you're patient.....and luckey!
Check out columbia I have a decent one that I paid $60 or $70 for.

FROG TOGS
Quality Foul weather jackets and /or bibs overalls cost much more than you planned on. Grundens , Helly Hanson, Guy Cotton , Bass Pro all are very good but significantly more expensive. Frogg toggs has cheaper ones that come with a “stuff” bag. These are ok to keep on the boat if it gets wet out but they don’t last long not nearly as durable. However Frogg Toggs Pro Guide jackets and bibs are made very well. The fabric is called Dri Pore 2 which is what they use for their more expensive chest waders . These jackets and bibs are extremely water proof. But breathable you won’t feel bound up and clammy. All seams are taped inside (like with waders) , have neoprene cuffs , dry pockets , big adjustable, removable hood. They are light weight, but durable. You can layer up beneath them for warmth if needed, some days you’ll want to, some days you won’t. They sell puffer style vests and jackets that zip in as liners . If you shop around you can get these more affordably than grundens etc. I got a great deal from Amazon . I bought the jacket and the bibs separately at different times.
