Did a lot of sorting and ended up with 21 keeper perch. Hope to get a few more today. Looks like it will be a good day.

Do you remember back in the early70's, all the perch you could eat for $1.25 at the Wigwam Restaurant in Barbeau?. I grew up in SSN, and caught a lot of perch over by Baie De Wasi, in little bays formed by the high river in the early 70's. Our favorite bay was known as Shallinaw Bay, and was just north of the larger bay. Our home was on the river, on the mainland, just across from our favorite fishing areas. It was a great place to grow up. We could catch pike, and kings right off of the front yard.

RJ Flowers: We used to eat whitefish at the Wigwam in '64 and '65. I lived up the road a bit next to the chiropractor named Wurster. Stroh's beer was a quarter a bottle and it was all you could eat for .99 cents. Unbelievably good fishing, clouds of mosquitos at dusk, very cold winters and over 220 inches of snow both winters I was there. I was stationed at Kincheloe AFB at the time.
Alas the Wigwam is now gone but the Cozy Corner is not only still there, it is completely renovated. Did a nostalgia trip a few years ago for memories.

Stroh's was my Dad's favorite beer. And oh how I remember Kincheloe Air force base, especially when open to the public. As a boy, I loved the F106 Delta Darts, the big cargo planes that dropped the nose to load cargo, the trained German Shephard shows, etc. KAb did fly overs right over us during the 4th of July parades. My step dad was part of the VFW drill team. And best of all, you rarely got skunked when fishing, especially for perch Like I said, SSM was a great place to gro up, especially if you lived in the country, and had access to woods, and water, which Ihad in spades.
