Have you ever been underestimated?

I try not to live in the past too often but occasionally I think it's okay to review our lives. Hopefully, we've learned from the past. About ourselves and others.

Have you ever been underestimated by family, friends, teachers and even strangers? There's always plenty of people that will tell you what you can do and can't do and why. After a while, if you hear enough from people about what you can't do -- you start to believe it. Especially when we are young.

Most of my life, I've been underestimated or sold short by people. Watch the movie "Rudy", and you will understand. Btw, it isn't really a sports movie. Notre Dame football is just the back drop.

I was told in high school that I couldn't go to college. It wasn't possible for me. I have a degree in Journalism, a 3.5 gpa when I went and spent 30 years in the newspaper business.
Paid my way through college.
No student loans. The examples continue. After my breakdown, no one will hire you they said, you won't earn much if hired. You won't own a house or car again. You won't get better,
people close to me said. I have a home, new car, a job in a completely different field and a confidence that comes with knowing they all underestimated me and what I could do.

Ever feel underestimated? Unsure? Lacking in confidence? I did. Don't listen to them. Rudy didn't. You shouldn't either.

Stand strong Kandy. Btw, I've heard no one wants a male caregiver for 10 years now. Most clients are women. They want a female caregiver. Funny, I keep turning down more hours when they call me.

Obviously, you don't listen to the naysayers.

Don't give up the fight Kandy. Remember the old saying. It's not the size of the dog it's the size of the fight in the dog. Works for people also. I've been screwed over by family friends n employer because I won't compromise or kiss butt. That just made me stronger. My old man being a bastard made me hard-headed. I've missed raises n promotions because I wouldn't suck up. I may suffer n do without at times but I'll never let anyone BREAK MY SPIRIT or TAKE MY PRIDE. Hang in there. You're intelligent n strong willed. Plus you have FRIENDS here. πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š

Figured I would with you Grizz. I think you know what it feels like to overcome based on some of your posts in the past. Stay strong man.

Thanks G. We've talked in the past n I totally understand. Best thing G none of it made me bitter just stronger. I don't use people n I still will lend a hard. Like you I expect little to nothing. I do it because that's who I am. I appreciate what someone does for me. I never take it for granted. If someone can't except me for who n what I am then leave me alone. Have a good day G. I know you had past problems but I don't think you'll ever be in that place again. Stay strong brother. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Going with Slim here. I have had some projects in the past both at work and and at home and been told that i can't do that. Some projects take a little thought instead of throwing the hands up and saying it can't be done.

At work it just makes my day to prove the book smart ones wrong. At home nearly the same.

I had some really good teachers in school but they were far and few in between, a lot of them just put us down as being stupid. Had one teacher tell us that we were just going to be ditch diggers when we got out of school.
Don’t pay any attention to them you can do just about anything you want to do.
