The ditch here caught all the bait two lures and two hooks. Trying somewhere else tomorrow.
Years ago we had a great day at Lyon's res. Not sure if it is still open to fishing. They used to stock trout and limits were easy.
I fished this area alot when I was younger because my cousins used to have a cabin in Twain Harte and we used to visit them for spring break and in the summers. The ditch is hit or miss near town, mostly miss. Lyons Lake is only very good if you get there soon after the stocking. We caught plenty of trout with salmon eggs near the docks right where the winding road ends. However we also got skunked there other times when they had not stocked recently. Your best option near there is Strawberry Lake near Pinecrest to your east at about 5,000 feet elevation. It is well stocked when trout season is open and fishing is usually good for numbers of small rainbow trout. The best bait from shore has been powerbait. Good and luck and let us know how you did.
