FS Digest

I will be fishing on the Grand river in Ontario, Canada. The depth where I will be able to fish will vary from 1-2 feet in depth (is that too shallow??) and the bottom is comprised of medium/small sized rocks. My target species are Rainbow trout, Brown trout or smallmouth bass(really anything to be honest). What type of fly would you suggest I try.

Try bead head nymphs - pheasant tail, hairs ear & prince - fished 3 to 4 ft beneath an indicator.

Also consider swinging streamer patterns thru that shallow water...like muddler minnow, zoo cougar, rabbit fur (bunny) leeches and minnow like imitations of the resident fish species...especially the trout. You might also want to consider a few "articulated" fly designs, as they give a bigger profile and have added life life motion when deployed.

If you can browse the "cases/drawers" at a local fly shop in person, your eye will be quickly drawn to patterns like those mentioned above thus far in this thread that you can count on to catch fish!

A good choice, or maybe a streamer that looks like a minnow, the Passe Lake is a good one.
