In all fairness to the state of California, you need to read the regulations - it all depends on which district you live in whether or not you can use carp as bait. Some places it's ok, some places it's not. As a warden once told me, if you don't know what the regs say then don't do it.

That is true but sometimes the regs are not that easy to understand. All I know is that I ask a Warden if I could use carp as cut bait at the lakes around me and he said no.

Nice you're still getting them David,last week I tripped on a tree root and ruptured my Achillies tendon,now all I can do is hobble around,no more fishing for me this year,the long road to recovery has started.
