Lure Straightener

I was in a tackle shop this weekend and another customer asked if they had a Lure Straightener. The salesperson said he had heard of such a tool, but he did not carry the item. Conversation followed. Apparently this tool replaces long-nosed pliers that most of us use, and eliminates the guesswork and over correcting.

Anyone ever seen this item? Where can it be purchased?

Don't know, but maybe you could buy 5 new lures for what that gizmo will cost.....just curious, what lures are you talking about?

That possibility crossed my mind, but I’m shameless. This “tool” is supposedly usable on any hard bait with a screw eye on the front of it.

Maybe it straightens the "bill" on a crankbait, IDK. I'm sure it wouldn't work on a fly.

If such a tool exists, I would want to use it to straighten out any bait that didn’t run true, and that I might have used my needle nose pliers to bend the hook eye to correct. This would include crankbaits, rattle traps, jerkbaits, topwater lures, etc.

Why don't you google it and see what shows up?

If you remember the old spark plugs gap tool. The straightener just has a couple size notches for different size eyes. Its around here somewhere. Unfortunately I have to go back to TMobile to find out how to unlock the camera on both phones. First time I ever had to do that.

Reef Ripper has them at x- tackle . com. Bass. Pro sells them. Simple small tool with a X groove slot that fit over eyelet on lure to adjust it left or right. They work alongside better then pliers.

Thanks for all the discussion and illustrations. I’m underwhelmed with the tool itself. Turns out I’ve had one for years.
