Chilly start this morning, 54°at the house, 56°at the ramp. Still a beautiful morning, and hardly any trailers in the lot. Went north to Barkwood Falls Cove to start. Only managed to hook 2 small Crappie, and 2 junior Largemouth.67°water temperature, and usually more activity there. Even the Blue Heron was sitting in the bushes on a bank, until I got near him and he fled. Made a run south to the Shepaug river arm, and graphed about 1.2 miles of ledges and dropoffs without marking any fish. Returned to the mouth an fished Upper Purchase Cove, where I've caught Smallmouth before. Nothing but a couple Rockys. Headed back north and fished some main lake ledges and points, but only caught 1more junior Largemouth, about the same as the other 2, and a couple small but savage Bluegills. They would bite on the tail of a Dinger,no hook, and stay on until they were in the boat. Then they let go and land in the boat. Pretty funny.
I've figured out the problem!!! All our Big (OLD) Bass have retired, and like all smart creatures, moved out of Connecticut, and settled in Tennessee, and Montana! Yeah thats the ticket!
Calm crisp morning at the ramp, looking south.
Barkwood Falls Cove, surprisingly not a sniff on a couple different topwater baits.
Shepaug River mouth,looking upriver.
Upper Purchase Cove, at the southern edge of the mouth of the Shepaug.
3 little guys about this size, and a handful of panfish was all I saw today.
Nice looking body of water brother. It's supposed to warm up some. Have a nice evening. Tell Kathy I said HI😃

I’m the same way. But my logic doesn’t always meet the bass logic. Somehow Mother Nature throws a wrinkle in there. Too often my expectations far exceeds my ability.
