Why do you hear so much about jerk baits, crank baits, spinner baits etc but rarely anything about paddle tail swim baits when they are by far the most effective lure for river smallmouth?

I try to switch it up but I always end up tying it back on, it just catches fish plain and simple. On top of that, it covers water like almost no other bait. Can you think of a bait that tops it in either of these categories?

I for one love paddle tail swim baits, not only in rivers but lakes as well as the ocean. You’re able to swim them at any depth you desire, jig them….whatever. They seem (at least for me) to be one of the most versatile baits in my arsenal.

Good question. I have used them a great deal this year with a great deal of success. Sometimes with just a hook and non weight and sometimes on a weighted jig head. Several different sizes and colors
