Different but fun

Well I got in a kayak and tried to fish for the first time and boy was it a learning experience. First cast I tossed to my direct left and I felt my left earlobe touch the water. Ok cast straight forward only got it. Then forgot about second rod in holder and hooked it 3 times on casts. Finally got it figured out and started catching we caught 4 each all on drop shot. My buddy had a 3.5# largemouth came up jumped in front of us and broke his spinner bait not the knot but the actual wire where it begins to form into the jig head and hook side. He still had the part w the blades. Anyways here’s my pb from a kayak.

Bass A you're pretty fair size for a yak brother. I've never been in one myself. Canoes but no yaks. The guys that have em luv em. Sounds like you'll get the hang of it. Good luck 🎣🎣

Congratulations!!! Welcome to the "club"...so to speak. Frankly, if you like fishing for anything...and getting up close and personal with the water beneath you, a kayak can be a ton of fun! It may seem a bit intimidating at first...but your comfort level and confidence will soon soar and before you know it, the process will become as effortless as breathing! You will always be in "stealth mode"!

It looks like you have some of your equipment configurations set up, and those may change a tad the more you go out and really exploit the whole process to see what works best. The main thing is have fun, and be SAFE!

I noticed that your PDF is on board but just in front of you for the photo. I'm not "your mom"...but if I could suggest anything, please wear it at all times. I am a certified scuba diver, an excellent swimmer, and consider myself reasonably fit and agile...but I always wear my PFD. I am not intimidated by what other folks may think...like "gosh...look at that grown man...wearing his life preserver...must be a chicken liver." A "spill over" can happen when you least expect it, and the last thing you want to be doing is scrambling for flotation. So...pardon the rambling...but I like folks to be safe when on the water. I want you to have a long and happy experience with your kayak!

Thanks for the laugh. Glad you have a sense of humor. Sounds like something I would do in a kayak. Glad to see you had a good time and catch fish. Thanks for sharing the pics

Just wanted to say B. The more you use that the more comfortable you will get. It’s good for getting into those out of the way places where the big boats can’t

Nice job BA. I've thought about it for a couple years, but my back and knees keep talking me out of it LOL. Nice recovery and adaptation, glad you caught a few. Thanks for the picture.

BA you did much better than I did with my first yak. I fell out of mine three times before I realized not to lean so much. I made mine more user friendly and the problems stopped. Nice Bass BTW.
