Not that long ago a handshake meant something.
I’m talking about an good old fashioned firm grip handshake.

When greeting friends to prospective employers , the handshake meant something.

Many a financial deal was consummated with an hand shake.

My handshake has been described as firm. Maybe a little too firm. I’m a big dude and work with my hands.

I know impaired guys I shake with opposite hands

I’ve felt cold fish handshakes that make me question the guy I’m meeting

Anyone else place value on a handshake

Some of us were raised that way also. I too have a firm handshake ,and even raised my 2 girls to have a firm handshake. No limp handshake in our family.
When I first met my future Father in law he was a big guy and had a FIRM grip. I was told by my wife later that he very much approved of me by my handshake. She and I have been married for 46 years. I don't think I've let him down either.

I was taught to look a person in the eye and give them a firm handshake, but that changed last year…

Yup firm hand shakes have been in my family since I was a little kid. I met a new IT director once who’s hand shake was less than a limp wet dish rag. After shaking his hand I was worried I might have hurt him, I didn’t get nothing in return, nothing. It does make ya wonder about the guys masculinity!

It used to be almost automatic( the handshake). Kinda sad it seems to be fading away. For me, it was not only a greeting but sometimes a goodbye or a way of closing a deal. A handshake was part of confirming your word.

My grandfather taught me when i was a kid. A mans word n his handshake should seal deal. If neither was good don't deal with him. His signed paper wouldn't be worth squat. 👍👍

Shaking hands is the norm here I think it is a sign of respect when I meet a veteran I always offer to shake his hand especially fellow Vietnam veterans

I am cautious when shaking hands. Too many times after using a public restroom and watching men not washing their hands has left me with a lot of apprehension. It takes but a little time to wash your hands. I have difficulty using the handle on a bathroom door knowing that men don't wash their hands. I guess I'm paranoid.
