What kind of rain gear can I get to prepare for those, rainy, foggy, chilly days casting on the beach? I only have mostly useless stylish jackets and Iβm a bit lost at what kind of outdoorsy clothing I would need to stay comfortable while fishing in the fall and spring.

Depends on your stash of cash....
It depends a lot on your financial situation because there are a lot of different types of comfortable rain garments that are very good for fishing π£ all depends on how much you are willing to spend most of the sports stores have a variety of different styles you can choose from good luck ππ
Depends too on how cold it's gonna be. Take a look at Bass Pro Shops, they have some good rain gear - I've heard good things about their 100 mph bibs and jackets. Cabela's used to offer some of the best - their gore-tex guide wear was quality stuff. Like the others said, it ain't cheap. But if you wanta be dry? Don't skimp. You got a whole lot of money? Look at Simms.
For simplicity and cost I pack Frog Toggs with rain jacket and pants all fit into a very small bag fits into your backpack easily. They are lightweight, cheap and durable and come in various colors if you need to be visible for emergencies. Fits over your current heavy jacket and pants if it rains suddenly so no need to take off your current clothes if it is cold.
Check that they are water-proof and not water-resistant. But you probably know that already.

Excellent point. There is a big difference.
Duluth Trading has been discounting their rainwear.
Hill foul weather gear is great

I second that on the Frog Toggs, I use them for fishing as well as hunting.
I have a set of ice armour...bibs and jacket that are really warm and also have floatation in them to work as life jackets. Around 400.00 at Sheilds on sale occasionally for 300.
Gore-Tex is the materiel used in many very good brands.
I've used both Frog togs & the Bass Pro 100 mph raingear. I'll stay with the 100 mph stuff. Worth every red cent.
