Where I fish there are a lot of pike so I have always ran a 9" or 12" steel leader. It made it easier for me to swap what I want to use and there weren't any worrys about losing my lures. It never seemed to affect my ability to catch small mouth but I am wondering. Should I not use a steel leader?
Don't worry about it unless your fishing Gin clear water and only getting follows !
If you're catching fish with it keep on using it. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
