Went beach fishing for a couple of hours today on South San Padre Island. My buddy Joel didn't bring his 4 wheel drive GMC because the air con wasn't working and we ended up taking my Honda CRV FWD - not a great idea any day, but particularly bad for today. The surf was broiling, big waves crashing, brown water out as far as you can see. Still throngs of people there taking advantage of the last few weekends of summer though. We caught a few mini-catfish. I couldn't get all angst about it because I knew the reason our beach was crappy was because our friends up in Louisiana were getting hammered. They have taken it hard the last few years with storm after storm rolling up the pipe. We're praying for you, amigos. Keep your collective heads down and this one will pass too.

They're getting hard again. Wish them the best of luck.
I feel so sorry about our friends in LA, MS, & E. TX. Gulf Coast area. They have all of my prayers.
Tony, when our water is brown up here in MN. and WI., we don't bother to fish. You should know that, but I understand your need to fish. You can't help it.

A bad day fishing is still a better day than, well most anything. I really should have had a camera. The sky and the surf were pretty spectacular. I used to have a link to look at the beach cameras along the gulf side and I think either you or PadreP gave it to me. Can't find it now. But I probably would have gone anyway, I was already psyched up.
Learned that from my oldest daughter years ago after she went to camp for a week or so.
If it's yellow let it mellow. If it's brown flush it down.
She thought that was so funny.
Saw/heard that in a movie way back, but because of CRS syndrome not sure of movie, but think it was Barbara Striesand maybe you film buffs will know....
