Don't know what the bead is for but tie your line to the swivel and put your leader in the snap part. I'm not a fan of those swivels all I use are Coast Lock swivels.

Was that part of a Mystery TackleBox?
I would guess the bead is some sort of attractor (?) Tie your main line to the bead end of the swivel and your leader or lure on the clip.

run your line thru the bead, tie your led to end, it's like a fish finder rig

Out here, the beads are popular when trout, salmon and steelhead fishing. When I use them I put them on the leader so they are right on top of the hook. Many times more than one are used.

The bead is to keep weights and other items from messing up the knot

That item is for a Trot line. Main line goes thru the double ended bead. It keeps the dropper line from wrapping around the main line and making a mess of the whole setup ! Without those or something similar you are in for a lot of grief ! This makes for saving time removing hooks from fish caught , just replace dropper line with one prebaited and remove hooks later when ashore !

Thanks for the correction, not a technique I am familiar with
