How should I use "trout magnet" lures?

I have a pack of "trout magnets" but I'm not sure how to use them effectively. They're tiny plastic worms with some movement on the ends, and they ship with 1/64 oz jig heads.

While I do have ultralight gear, 1/64 oz is surely far too light to cast on its own... Should I be putting these on a weighted bobber? Should I add split shot or a bullet weight? Or just cast them as-is as best as I can?

Also, I prefer not to handle scent goo (last time I had some, my cats sniffed it out and tore open the bottle... it was not pretty.) Do I need that for trout magnets or can I use them unscented?

The trout magnets have bobbers that are sold with the whole kit when you buy it. Fish them under one of those bobbers. Trout attractant helps sometimes, but certainly is not essential.

I use them for crappie and bluegill on ul equipment.

You can use a split shot on the bottom and then the 1/64th oz jig/trout magnet 12" to 16" up the line. This is an excellent setup for weed beds.

I also use the 1/64th oz jig/trout magnet on the bottom instead of the split shot and then run another trout magnet setup or another jig 12" to 16" up the line running 2 jigs in tandum.

It's flat out fun catching doubles on ul equipment.

I use a clear casting bubble with some water in it with my trout magnets, in lakes and ponds
For rivers and streams, I use EZ Trout Floats with them as Spiritof27 mentioned above
