what's the status for Fall fishing for Stripers in the San Joaquin River near Lathrop?

I'm getting ready to start fishing again. I live in Manteca California, and folks out here say you need to go to Rio Visita for Stripers. I can't believe that the Lathrop California area isn't a great fishing location. Maybe the type of bait used is the secret, I don't know.
I would like to figure this out before the season starts. Thanks again for your feedback.

I like to troll a special lure in the river but it has to be pretty free of grass and debris. I start off at Rio Vista and work up river. I could use a partner so if interested we can hook up,
