This is what we use here all the time and it works well for us

Nice Sheepshead Troy. How do they taste?
Hack 🇺🇸🍺🍺

They are very good. We have red and black drum as well and to me they all taste the same. We grill fry and bake them but to me frying is better Plum probably can tell you best and how to cook them

I agree and something that big or bigger with a good fight makes your day even if you don’t catch anything else

So right. I have seen other people use different rigs but mostly when I talk to them they are not from here

Thanks troy. Glad you got it on the first cast. That’s always a great way to start fishing.

I too am surprised that people catch fish on that setup. With the snap swivel connectin right to the eye of the hook.
Seems like you would have better luck with either a leader and hook or at least usin a pre rigged snelled hook.

They feed off the crustaceans on bridge pylons, dock pylons and jetties . They eat anything like oysters, clams, fiddler crabs. Or live shrimp. I don't think they even see the rig you are using. Fun to catch if you know how to catch them.

Wow, that's something. I don't get to fish the salt very often. It's so much fun though. Just never really know what you're gonna pull out.

That’s right Saw. You can usually catch something even if you don’t want it. Lots of fish feed on live shrimp or finger mullet. It’s so much fun to see that popping cork disappear and feel that fish on your line, or with finger mullet, fish on bottom and catch reds, trout, or flounder, or even a shark now and then.

Wow, when I fish I usually KNOW pretty much what I'm gonna catch.
When striper fishin, usually stripers. Occasionally we hook a Batray or Halibut.
When bass fishin we usually catch LM, SM or occasionally a catfish, crappie or carp. The carp are usually foul hooked though.

Man Troy, I would love to catch some ribbon fish. We don't have them down here as far as I know. Best bait for kings on a down rigger.

Yeah that’s normal with fresh water but here we fish salt or brackish and with that you really do not know what you will hook into but al in all its great not knowing especially what you are targeting for. It’s getting close to our spot run and after that the mullets will do there fall run and then the trout will run before it get to cold
