4 days with grandson

I had my 10 year old grandson for a four day 'A Papa Lincoln get together'. I tried to make the most of it. Day one we chased flatfish most of the day with limits for both along with some fish we use for crab bait. Day two, we went to Birch Bay State Park and limited on Butter Clams and one Gaper Clam "We were too wet and covered with sand stuck to us from head to foot to get pictures. The tide was not low enough to get a limit of gapers. Day three we rested Note: resting means nurf gun battles, bow shooting, cleaning sand out of the truck and legos. Day four was opening day of crab season in our areas, so we hit the water again. It did not start well with an hour in the launch line, but we still had a blast. Most of the crowd went to Birch Bay. We went a different direction and had our part of the Strait to ourselves. We set the traps. Then caught enough flat fish for a few meals while trying to catch stage horn sculpin for the crab pots." One is hanging from Lincolns hand on a double, sand dab and sculpin. We pulled pots and got eight keepers. Threw back 10 or 15 just about 1/8 inch undersize or legal but soft shell. Reset, but the current kicked in so we pulled and set an anchor and ring in 20 feet of water. The wind kicked up so we pulled (one legal) and bounced our way back to Blaine. Great trip again. I think Lincoln enjoys the bouncing and getting sprayed more than the crabbing. He is a regular water rat. At any rate, we ended the evening with a nice crab feed. We started today with fried fish eggs and bagel. If I can pull myself out of this chair, it is time to take him home.

What a neat four days, my brother takes his grand son fishing all the time and he is 10 and a very good fisherman and he has been to Alaska, Hawaii, many spots on the Northern California coast and it is sure fun to see them fish together.

Nice pictures. Thanks. And that's awesome taking time fishing with your grandson. I have 2, but still a little young at 4 months and the other is almost 3(already likes trout fishing at the kids pond with dad). I cant wait until they're about the age of your grandson. Also, I was wondering if you could tell me more about fried fish eggs and bagel? Tight lines!!
