Just installed a Minnkota TM w/I-pilot and hand held remote. Love the unit thus far but........to those of you that use a remote where do you keep it while fishing? On a lanyard around the neck is a bit of a PITA.

I hang my lanyard around my neck then pass it between my PFD buckle and my chest.
Keeps if from swinging around and I always know where to reach

Man whatever you do , don’t submerge your fob.
I ruined my backup when I speared a wave and had water in cockpit.
It was hanging from my steering wheel shaft

I have a retractable clip I put on my belt for my remote, but the remote is smaller for my older Motor Guide.

Yeah Ralph, mine is just the little Co-Pilot for a Powerdrive motor. The I-Pilot is much larger. Ben's idea sounds like the best way to keep it on your person. If you stand and fish mostly, rigging up a holster or belt clip might work. How about a shoulder holster?

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I always stand while fishing and tucking it in to my PFD vest with a safety lanyard might be the hot setup.

I usually wear a button up shirt, use the lanyard and drop the remote down inside my shirt and bring it back out between two buttons to keep it from flopping around and getting in my way if I lean over for something. It is still easily assessible.

I usually keep mine in my glove box...lol. I just use mine for infrequent trolling but I should learn to use it all the time to reduce fatigue. Seriously, I can't imagine any convenient location other than a neck lanyard.

My old Minnkota had a little f.o.b. about 1"x1 -1/2inches that I snap tied to my pole just ahead of the reel. VERY handy. When I first saw those large remotes hanging around necks, I thought I would never get used to that....
But I have. It helps immensely if you have auto-pilot. Don't buy a motor without it.

I keep mine clipped to my beltloop, right by my front pocket. It’s handy whether standing or sitting but it’s not in the way.

I bought a foot pedal for my Terrova so the fob stays at home. The foot pedal is bigger than the opening in the deck made for the Edge trolling motor that came with the boat. So the opening now has a lid under which I store a box with terminal tackle and 2 small spools of fluorocarbon for leaders.

Harley, That's exactly why I bought the new TM: for the auto pilot option as well as cruise control and spot lock.
