With the approaching opening of Whitetail season in some areas how concerned are folks that the herds may be infected? How can you be sure the meat is safe to eat...get it tested?

Good point S R. I as well heard that the deer were testing positive. I guess you have to cook the Covid out of it.

Hasn’t quite reached our area yet,but is pretty much all around us. According to the game commission’s biologist it’s not supposed to be harmful to humans but they claim you should be able to tell if an animal has it by their actions. There are areas set up in our state where you can take you deer to have it tested. Don’t know what you have anything similar down there but you may want to check

They have a couple of short seasons for using dogs, about a week for each

We have testing places, not near where I am though. I have 3 private hunting areas and all free to me as well as the fishing lake. The owner gave me the boat I'm fixing up, they wont recognize it when its finished. I have deer showing up on each of them, last one was a few mornings ago, at least 8 point in velvet.

Yes, I killed 1 on opening day and 1 2 days later with my crossbow, both at 30 yards in same spot

Mine is 320 fps and have had 3 in last 2 years with it. I don't have the strength for other bows

Me either, I suppose there was a lot of field study that determined deer shot with crossbows are usually recovered, unlike all those shot with compounds....just guessing

Just like a gun you aim through the sights and allow for wind and the drop of the arrow. With mine I fired 3 times in last 2 years for 3 kills
