Many of you sent money for a fishing trip with a guide for my friend Bear. For a variety of reasons, we haven't done that trip yet. Instead, we are planning a fishing trip about five an a half hours away and renting a cabin for two nights. The money you guys gave will cover the trip.
Here's the question, (we both have been vaccinated), with the spike in Covid cases again and Bear has some other health issues, would you make this trip at the end of October or wait until next March or April? I probably need to reserve a cabin soon for late October.
I appreciate your feedback on this one. Not sure what to do.
That is a very tough call! On one hand I want to say don’t risk the bear better to wait, however I also feel like this virus is so unpredictable that it could be even more dangerous later on and worse could cause lodging issues and travel do to closures. I would say go for it and be extra cautious sanitize often and wear masks in places you think are risky. Also remind him to wash his hands if he is touching anything public. Sorry for stating the obvious but it’s the best I have for you. Best of luck!!!
Tomorrow is promised to noone
If Bear is high risk get the damn booster shot and go fishing. If you don't go fishing at least get the booster shot. The data from Israel (78% vaccinated) and the Delta strain (50% infection rate) is sobering proof the vaccine is not even close to being as effective as we were led to believe. 80% of all infections in the US are currently Delta.
Thanks guys. Food for thought for me and Bear to discuss.

Go for it! If it were me I'd rather fish. The death rate or hospitalizations are less with the shots and who knows a heartatack can take you out anytime.
Make plans and reservations. I’m sure you could cancel if it becomes necessary…🐟on

Go for it Greg. Take food and drinks so you don't have to go out in the public. The cabin should have a stove and fridge in it. Oh yea you will be eating fish every day.

Thanks G. Cabin is fully equipped. Has a charcoal grill. Fees include boat, motor and bait.

Just for the crappie activity at the end of October. This Bear is a big boy. Hope they got a big enough boat. Lol
I'm with you on that Gordon! I want to see that. In October. Take precautions. Be careful and be safe, but go for it. Deal with the situation we have, who knows what next year will bring.

I agree with the others, Greg. Proceed with caution, mask when needed, keep your distance from others, have fun. If you were traveling across country, it might be different because of local rules, but being that close, you can pretty much avoid other people if you like. Mainly, just be safe and have a good time. Once you’ve reserved the cabin, double-check before you leave to make sure it is still available.
During the last peak in Covid, many of the state-owned cabins closed down. Be sure to ask about their “refund policy” in a similar situation, if advance payment or deposit is required.
