I used a pipe cutter to cut 15" off the top of the motor shaft which gave me enough wire to move the control head on an adapter up next to me on the frame of the boat and left 21" of the motor shaft to go deep enough in the water. I made an adapter out of copper pipe with an electrical strain relief for the wire. I made the clamp with an extension and a tie rod end with a rod long enough to go to the lever that's mounted on the frame also up next to me.I can control the speed, forward or reverse, and the direction of the boat easily without being a contortionist. Very happy with the results. Now weeds, low water, and fish are problems yet to be resolved; in process.
Nice rig, I would need a fwd foot rest.

Gotta love hillbilly engineering, do it myself all the time. Nice job!

That’s good engineering. I had to look closer to see how you steer the rudder or propeller direction. If your happy it should work well.
All you need now is a 300w Solar Panel and MPPT controller. The panel is your canopy for sun and rain. Then you will not run battery down and get stuck on shore or water.
Looks good.

Red neck engineering if it works for you that's what counts

I thought about doing that but going around here on these roads would shake it to pieces.
Did i miss the battery? Hood work on that. Let us know how the outting goes!
Thats some fine engineering on the thang

I made an aluminum box that is secured to the platform close to the motor

I went out on a reservoir and the water was flat. After a couple of hours the wind came up; not quite whitecaps but 10" or so. I felt kind of like a ping pong ball in the wash machine but it all worked just fine.
