Okay so I decided to pick up fishing a few months ago. I’ve gone fishing about 8-10 times in all kinds of spots. Lakes, piers, ponds, canals and I have yet to catch anything. It’s getting really frustrating because I enjoy it but for some reason I’m can’t manage to get a single bite. I’ve done my research and I’ve used all kinds of baits and setup and nothing. I must be doing something wrong. Does it usually take this long to catch something especially if you’re a self taught beginner? (I usually fish 2-3 hours by myself.

The best tip I have learned through the years is to put a worm at the bottom and be patient. Worms are very universal and most fish eat them naturally so it’s a very sure thing that you will eventually get one on, also try to fish as little gear as possible keep it simple and keep at it! What is your current gear setup and where are you located geographically?
Go with someone who fishes often.
Watch and learn.
