Going to Torch Lake in lower upper Michigan over Memorial Day weekend. What would be the best specie to target and what is your advice on how to go after them? Will be fishing from a boat on the northern end. Thanks for any help!
Good luck. Here in Alabama you try to fish during the week and stay off the water on weekends and especially holidays due to the crowds. Jet skis are the worse offenders of fishing to me. I have had them go between me and the bank. Yes, I use to be one of those people that piled into the lake on the weekend. Sometimes you have no choice but to go on the weekend due to work or something else. Hope you enjoy the water and catch a lot of fish.
Might not be to crowded around torch village on the north end of torch. You might try jigging for lake trout. It will still be to cold for the bass to be spawning.. But you might try some jerk baits on the breaks. Barney
Plenty of walleye an northern pike in Torch Lake too, but later in the season is better. The water will still be very cold.
Hope to fish on Friday afternoon. My sister says the water is only 45 degrees. Do you think the lakers be in the deepest water? Jig with spoons or plastics?
