I'm here on the western slope of Colorado, Whitewater, and went to Vega Res to catch some trout. Even at 8000" the water is warm, 70 degrees, So the first 6 feet is thick with algae. I only caught one nice rainbow, 15". I went up on the mesa to cottonwood #1, 10,000', and caught some nice cutthroats, and the water is clear but 62 degrees. Sorry, no pix; I left my camera home. Next time I hope to take the camera and have pix of some beautiful fish, inside and out ( tasty ). Also, some pix of the way I rigged my 9' inflatable pontoon boat with an electric motor that can be controlled for speed and direction without being a contortionist. TTFN
Sounds like you overcame the situation and turned it all into your favor with some nice "catching". Folks on this site will enjoy some future snapshots of fish, as well as your creativity in rigging up that float boat! Glad that you struck pay dirt up at the higher altitude. 62 degrees ought to make a trout feel pretty good!
