We used an artificial crayfish on the bottom.

When I take my grandkids always use a bobber with red worms or piece of Nightcrawler or bobber with a small jig an Minnows or jig and small plastics for crappie or Bluegills

I agree with Whitey, a worm on a bobber will catch any kind of small fish around, and in the beginning,action is more important than size. Worms and shiners are easy to fish.

Maybe for trout, but I've never heard of panfish hitting corn.
