I've eaten my share of them. Spent 2+ years over in Germany. Use to buy them off the street vendors all the time.

You know of some "good ones" to buy here? Best ones I ever had was in college
one group was selling them on a stick.
Now all I can find it "super market" crap from the big 2 or so.

When I was at Sheridan Kaserne in Augsburg the truck would come around every morning at 1000. Coffee and a small brat on a rye brotchen. Delightful.

I make my own Brats with Elk meat and pork combination with sage beer and a lot of different types of seasonings after making them I let them rest in the fridge overnight then place into my smoker for a couple of hours using Cherry and apple wood you can cook them on the stove after and enjoy or freeze for another day

Haven't bought any really good ones lately. If I do I'll let you know.

Well, I think they were brats. We were on this tour and stopped in Munich and had lunch in a beer garden, which was reputed to be the one where Hitler attempted the first time to take over the German government and failed. I think he was thrown in prison for a while for this failed attempt. But I orders an assortment of Brats. I cannot say they were any better, be also not any worse than what we have in the German communities in Texas. Just Sayin....RJS

They make some fantastic brats at our local mom and pop grocery store.
Marinate them in beer and onions overnite and put a little char on em.
Yum yum.
