Hi everyone,
I recently was able to retire in Southern California. We live close to a couple of lakes and I fish for Bluegill and Bass. I am fairly new to fishing, know how to feed the fish my bait well.
I did have a question about bait for both Bluegill and Bass. I use larvae now and catch a lot of bluegill. I would like to use artificial since the wife won't bait her hook.
Also the lakes here are at max 15-19 feet deep and in most spots I fish they are less than 10 feet. I do want to try and catch some decent bass and a fisherman that has fished the lake for a long time told me to use Rattle shard? He had caught 4 good size bass that night, one up to 6 lbs. Suggestions?

For the bluegill, you can use a number of little jigs and flies. Little guys with feathers, and there are some
little rubber worm like jigs to put on a hook. These can be casted out and retrieved or used with a bobber.
For the bass, you can use rubber worms, rattle trap, rapalas, spinner baits. The list goes on, someone
else will chime in too. Good luck.
Thank you Smokey2 for the reply. I will look into your suggestions.

Welcome and enjoy the group. Lots of nice guys here with lots of good info.
Always had good luck here for blue gills and perch with smaller mr twisters
What does a mr twisters look like? Are you pulling my line?
It is also known as a curly tail jig. Very popular in this area for smallmouth and crappie
